We do not accept waste in the winter. Drop spots closed from Nov 1, 2023 - April 29, 2024. Feel free to save your food waste and drop it off next spring! Meanwhile, check our events page for upcoming collection events.

The Lloyd Jones Memorial Garden is a community garden that grows fresh produce for the Fairbanks Community Food Bank. This garden is on land owned by the Corinthian Baptist Church. Please be respectful when dropping off your waste and do not leave waste around the bins or garbage in the church’s personal dumpster.

What to Drop Off

Thanks for taking the time to drop off your organic waste to help divert waste from the landfill and create an organic soil amendment for some local community gardens! We accept most everything organic. See below for the exceptions.

All drop spots are divided into color coded sections, nitrogen heavy GREEN material and carbon heavy BROWN material. Compost is made using a ratio of both, generally about 3 parts browns to one part greens. We appreciate you doing your best to separate your waste as accurately as

possible, it helps us tremendously when we make the compost piles. When you drop off your waste, you may see some of our compost piles in action. Feel free to take a look, you can even check the temperature with the thermometer in each pile. But please DO NOT add any waste to these piles. Once the piles are actively composting, adding new waste items to the pile will slow down the decomposition process. We will start a new pile with your waste each time the bins fill up. If this part of the process interests you, send us an email at compostfbx@gmail.com to talk about volunteering.
